State totals hide what happens on the ground. District Crimes turns NCRB's Crime in India reports into clean district-level datasets, with every police reporting unit tagged by type and every district mapped to its LGD code.
District-level datasets, standardised from NCRB's Crime in India reports.
District figures are the hardest part of NCRB's reports to use: hundreds of tables a year, reported by police units rather than by district.
Every figure comes from a table in NCRB's Crime in India report for that year. Nothing is modelled or estimated.
City, rural, railway, cyber and other police units are kept as reported and categorised in a unit_type field.
Districts keep the name used in the source, alongside their Local Government Directory code for joining with other data.
Where district totals don't match NCRB's state totals, the source figures are carried through unchanged and noted on the dataset.
